Curiosity is a core driver of who I am.

I’m Scott McIntyre, designer, systems-thinker, and lifelong learner. I’m at my best when I’m translating complexity into something clear, usable, and well-crafted: a brand system people can follow, a presentation library that scales, a product experience that feels intuitive, or a story that lands.

I’ve taken a winding path in life... electronics, computer science, industrial design, theology, aircraft maintenance, utilities, and design. The point is, I’m comfortable in both a creative and technical world. I'm naturally inquisitive and always curious.

Below are a few things that make me tick.

My thought-line

  • The “why” matters. I care about intent, not just output.
  • I collaborate well. I like building with people, not just handing off files.
  • I verify. I check sources and pressure-test assumptions because I care about the message being sent.
  • I'm a context and ideation driven person. Context informs the paths I make.
  • I have a design "mechanic" mindset, I'm always thinking about how thing are running.

A Few Beliefs

  • Learning doesn’t stop—it just changes shape.
  • Trust is earned. Doing what you say you will do matters.
  • Own your failures. Don't run from them.
  • Community matters. I maintain the connections I have because of the value I place on people.
  • Life is friction based. It doesn't get easier with age, you just have to adjust to doing harder better.
  • It’s better to make allies than adversaries. Don’t burn bridges.
  • Knowledge is meant to be shared.

How I Work

I think visually. I mind-map, sketch, write, and iterate. If I don’t know something, I ask questions, research, test, and repeat. And when I learn something useful, I teach it. Teaching something helps it stick with lifting others in the process.

If any of this resonates with you, I’d love to connect—whether you need design support, a clearer system, or a thinking partner.

My Process

A clear and simple process that keeps projects organized, aligned with your goals, and delivered on time.

Brief & Goals

We define the project scope, target audience, and main objectives together. I listen and take notes.

Concept & Direction

I create initial ideas, share for review and critique, listen, and proceed to designing and building.

Design & Build

The approved concept is developed into built out. During this phase, review and critique is part of the process too.

Delivery & Support

Final files are handed over in the needed formats, with ongoing support if required. I don't intentially leave you with files you can't work with because I believe in creating relationships that are built on trust. I want you to return with future business because you want to, not because you have to.

FAQs

What type of projects do you work on?

I'm a generalist with experience in a wide range of design applications. I AM ALWAYS up for a new challenge because I love exploration and discovery.

How do you structure pricing?

Most projects fall into one of three structures: hourly, which is best for short-term or open-ended work and is billed at my full hourly rate; retainer, which is great for ongoing collaboration and offers a discounted rate in exchange for committing to hours up front; or per project, which is ideal for clearly scoped work with defined goals and deliverables, with a fixed fee or capped range agreed on at the start—either way, we’ll figure out which option suits you best.

How would you describe who you are as a designer?

I think of myself as a generalist with a mechanic perspective. I like things that run smoothly and as designed. I listen, think through, test...repeat.

Do you offer ongoing support after delivery?

Short answer, yes.
